Woman Who Had Anaphylaxis on Oral Semaglutide Resumed It After a 13-Step Desensitization Protocol
A 60-year-old woman developed hives, facial swelling, a closing throat, and trouble breathing within minutes of taking oral semaglutide 3 mg and needed an epinephrine injection, clinicians reported in Allergologia et Immunopathologia. An intradermal skin test was positive, pointing to an IgE allergy. Because the drug was helping her and she had no good alternative, they gave a rapid 13-step oral desensitization with premedication, and she has stayed symptom-free on daily therapy since September 2025; the authors say no standard protocol exists.
