Network Meta-Analysis of 30 Trials Finds Every Insulin-Plus-GLP-1 Combination Shot Beat Basal Insulin Alone on A1C and Weight
Endocrinologists from Bangladesh, India, and the UK pooled 30 randomized trials with 17,862 adults with type 2 diabetes and reported in Endocrine that all fixed-ratio combinations of basal insulin and a GLP-1 drug lowered A1C and body weight more than basal insulin alone. Compared with basal insulin, HR17031 had the largest estimated extra A1C drop (0.72 points) and IcoSema, Novo Nordisk's insulin icodec plus semaglutide, the largest extra weight loss (3.16 kg), but no HR17031 comparison with another combination was statistically significant, and certainty was mostly low to moderate.
