Veterans Affairs Study: About 1 in 4 of 245,084 Veterans With Type 2 Diabetes Stopped Their GLP-1 Drug Within a Year
University of Iowa and VA researchers found 24.8% of veterans who started a GLP-1 drug between 2018 and 2023 stopped within a year. The 2,178 with irritable bowel syndrome stopped slightly less often (22.5% vs 25.9%), but the difference was not significant after adjustment (HR 0.93). BMI, other glucose-lowering drugs, depression, drug type, and start year were each tied to stopping.
