In 90 Patients Switched From a GLP-1 Drug to Tirzepatide, a Blood-Cell GIP Receptor Reading Tracked With More Weight Loss
In a single-center retrospective study of 90 people with type 2 diabetes who had taken a GLP-1 drug for at least six months before switching to tirzepatide, higher baseline GIP receptor gene expression in blood monocytes was associated with larger drops in body weight and in the FIB-4 liver fibrosis score over six months, Hideyuki Okuma reported in Diabetology International. The author calls it an exploratory marker and says the study did not establish causation or actual reversal of liver scarring.
