Melanotan II Pricing: April 2026
Melanotan II has no legal US channel — only research chemical vendors at $30–$90/vial. FDA excluded it from Feb 2026 peptide reclassification over melanoma concerns.
Melanotan II (MT-II) is a synthetic broad-spectrum melanocortin receptor agonist (MC1R, MC3R, MC4R, MC5R) used for skin tanning, libido enhancement, and appetite suppression. Often confused with PT-141 (bremelanotide), the two differ substantially: MT-II's broader receptor activity drives tanning via MC1R, while PT-141 is MC3R/MC4R selective and affects only sexual function.
Regulatory status (April 2026): MT-II is NOT FDA-approved and remains on the FDA's Category 2 list. In the February 2026 HHS announcement, most peptides were moved off Category 2 — but MT-II was specifically excluded due to melanoma/skin cancer concerns (MC1R agonism can drive pigmentation in existing nevi), cardiovascular stress, and insufficient human safety data.
This creates a sharp contrast with PT-141:
- No FDA-approved branded version exists for MT-II (vs. Vyleesi for PT-141)
- No legal compounding under 503A or 503B pathways (vs. PT-141, widely compounded)
- No telehealth platforms legally prescribe it — all legitimate access channels are closed
- FDA issued 14 warning letters to consumer suppliers in 2026
- Illegal to sell in all 50 US states, UK, and Australia (reclassified Schedule 9 in Feb 2026)
The only available pricing is from gray-market research chemical vendors labeling products "not for human consumption." Standard dosing: Loading at 0.25 mg (250 mcg) subcutaneous daily for 1–2 weeks, then 0.5–1 mg 1–2x/week maintenance. Available as injectable lyophilized powder (most common) or nasal spray (10 mg per 10 mL bottle typical).
Common side effects: Nausea, facial flushing, darkening of existing moles, spontaneous erections in men. Insurance does not cover MT-II.
Research Vendors — Injectable Lyophilized (Research Use Only)
Sold strictly for in-vitro research purposes, not for human use. Lyophilized powder requires reconstitution with bacteriostatic water. Prices are per 10 mg vial (the standard size).

No Legal Prescription Channel
Unlike PT-141 (which has branded Vyleesi + legal compounding), Melanotan II has no legal prescription channel in the US. This section documents that gap explicitly.
